Former Formula 1 world champion, Kimi Raikkonen has announced that he will be retiring at the end of current 2021 Formula 1 season. Currently driving for Alfa Romeo, Raikkonen vowed to step away from Formula 1 after the last grand prix of the season in Abu Dhabi. Raikkonen’s f1 career span around 20 years and he has the most grand prix starts under his belt with 341 grand prix. 41 year old, reached his peak during 2007 season when he went on to become world champion for Ferrari which was his only world title.
Raikkonen made his Formula 1 debut back in 2001 and since than he has been a regular fixture in every formula 1 season from 2001 to 2021. Raikkonen did take a break from F1 during 2011 and 2012 seasons where he was busy driving in “World Really Championship”. Also known as “Iceman”, Raikkonen’s ice cold interviews and some meme like answers have him very popular in Formula 1 fan base.
